Hear what some of our sisters have to say about their experience!
"When looking back on college I couldn’t imagine not being a part of something bigger than myself. Alpha Epsilon Phi has helped me become the leader I am today. The day I became a member I knew I wanted to do as much with my organization as possible. I was able to serve on the governance council for the Inter sorority association which allowed me to really see the big picture and how much my organization meant to me. Although I am now an alumni I still feel such a connection to my chapter at Plattsburgh State, and feel so honored when I see all the good these strong women are still doing. I am now a program director for the Boys and Girls club of central Texas and can really attribute getting this job to my experiences with Alpha Epsilon Phi. One of my supervisors was also involved in Greek Life and saw that on my resume; which allowed him to see my commitment, work ethic, as well as leadership skills. I feel so lucky to have experienced all I did with Alpha Epsilon Phi and know that anyone else who joins will be become a better person and experience a true sister hood. "
I never thought I would join a sorority, I know that sounds cliché, but I’m being completely honest. If you told me I would be in an organization with over 50 girls, I would have laughed in your face. I would have never considered myself a “sorority girl.” I was never overly involved in my school or community and most definitely not friends with a lot of girls. It wasn’t until the end of my freshmen year did the thought of being in one come into my head. I knew a few girls, some of who were my best friends, that were in various sororities on campus and after hearing stories and seeing what they actually do, I became interested. After the first rush event I went to, I felt comfortable immediately; the girls were so welcoming and laid back. They didn’t seem like a “typical sorority”, something was different and unique and I was drawn in. I don’t regret joining one bit, it has taught me so many life lessons. I have learned to tolerate others more, I have become more outspoken, and I have learned to manage my time better. It not only helped me to build my character, but has also given me a special, sibling like bond, with over 50 girls. Yes it’s true that you may not always get along and you will have arguments, but in the end you know they will be there for you through your good and bad times. I am now part of an amazing organization with some of the craziest, outspoken, opinionated, and unique individuals and I wouldn’t change a thing.
I didn't know much about what joining a sorority meant when I was interested, In fact I thought it was just paying for friends. But there's something about Greek life, specifically my organization that proved me wrong in so many ways. I thought I was just giving myself to something and I learned I was also gaining so much more for myself. I've been involved in clubs and sports but I felt like I could be doing more with my time so on a whim I joined AEPHi, and it was one of the best choices I ever made. I wasn't just paying dues but learning how to be a leader, and a sister and I found something very special about being in AEPhi. There's a beauty in the fact that we don't know one anothers life stories, but it feels like we have known one another our whole lives, the fact that when I have a new idea or passion, I have sisters who not only encourage me but help me out with them, and the fact that I am encouraged to not only do well but to challange myself to do better with everything I do now even in my personal life. Becuase my achomplishments and the pride I feel is shared with my sisters and they feel it too. I've tried it all and know no better feeling than the ones my sisters have brought me
I love AEΦ is because AEΦ loves me. I have a group of girls that are always there for me no matter what or when. AEΦ has given me a home in Plattsburgh that I did not expect to find and now that I have found them, I don’t think I could live without them. AEΦ is a lot more than three letters inscribed into an American Apparel t-shirt. My sisters of Phi Tau are the girls that I know will carry me throughout my entire life, something that will never end. Alpha Epsilon Phi has became a major part of my life.
